ÇOMÜ Nursing Students Provide Health Support to the Community: “Take a Step Against High Blood Pressure” Event Held

The "Take a Step Against High Blood Pressure" event, organized by nursing students from the Faculty of Health Sciences at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University to raise awareness about hypertension in the community, was held on May 13, 2026, at the Kepez Municipality Public Cafe.

As part of the Social Responsibility course, the event provided free blood pressure measurements to citizens and informed them about hypertension. Throughout the event, nursing students shared informative presentations on the importance of blood pressure measurement, risk factors for hypertension, healthy lifestyle habits, and the necessity of regular health checkups.

A total of 142 people had their blood pressure measured during the event. 84 of those measured were women and 58 were men. The lowest recorded blood pressure value was 90/60 mmHg, and the highest was 170/110 mmHg. Individuals at risk of high blood pressure were advised to seek medical attention.

The event, which highlighted the importance of awareness campaigns in protecting public health and early detection of diseases, received significant interest from citizens. Participants had the opportunity to increase their individual health awareness, while nursing students experienced sharing their professional knowledge and skills with the community.
