On November 14th, World Diabetes Day, students taking the Diabetes Nursing course at the Nursing Department of the Nursing Department of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University organized an exhibition titled “We Are Aware of Diabetes” coordinated by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Naile ALANKAYA. The posters, brochures and booklets prepared by the students at the exhibition emphasized the importance of diabetes, included nutrition and exercise in diabetes, and touched on precautions for acute and chronic complications of diabetes. Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences Prof. Dr. Cüneyt AKI, Head of the Nursing Department Prof. Dr. Aysun BABACAN GÜMÜŞ, valuable faculty members and students of the faculty attended the event. Prof. Dr. Cüneyt AKI, Prof. Dr. Aysun BABACAN GÜMÜŞ and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Naile ALANKAYA, who made their speeches, drew attention to the prevalence of diabetes and the complications it causes, and emphasized that nurses play an important role in the prevention of diabetes. They stated that motivating students and their participation in this regard is valuable. Our students supported the event with 8 posters, 2 booklets and 5 educational brochures. 3 papers were awarded by the poster jury evaluation board. The paper titled “Aren’t You at Risk?” prepared by Büsra Nur Demirci and Zeynep Nur Dilmen won first place, the paper titled “Medication Use by Diabetics” prepared by Yaşar Can Çelik and Yusuf Kaymaz won second place, and the paper titled “Measuring Blood Sugar Levels of Diabetics at Home” prepared by Nida Kumaz and Hanife Nur Kotan won third place. All other students who participated and provided support were given certificates of appreciation.
